2009 was my first visit. So I had no way to compare it to itself really. The PP area did seem too large and remote and unspectacular. I've heard somewhere that this water ride will eventually be the center of the park. Will Koch was supposed to have said it.

Raven and Legend are done and have been for a couple of days, but since I've never done any backstage tours I'm waiting to get sent some photos from a friend who has... going to email him again tonight. I suppose I could just put up the text versions now and add photos later. Voyage is going to be a bit longer, though, not surprising given how much there is to discuss on that one.

By the way, while the park definitely still has it's own charms, it's not to the same degree I think they used to have ten years ago, especially stuff like the Pilgrim's Plunge expansion area just seemed sort of bland, expensive looking but a lot of concrete, woodchip landscaping and flat, mono-color walls (actually the PP station is a bit better in that last regard compared to say Voyage or Gobbler Getaway). I mentioned looking for some older TR's of the park from closer to the Raven's opening, but I found they weren't as easy to find with a Google search; I know I've seen them before, however. If anyone has a link to a photo report that shows off the park before the Legend was added, sharing would be appreciated.

Great article. I agree with all your criticisms though these contrary developments and outcomes of a growing popular destination, they don't bother me. The park keeps it's own charm somehow. I'm glad to see it's still one of you favorite parks. I found Legend to be riding in top form in 09. I've never ridden a woodie more self actualized as that ride has become with time. Those trains are dropping flawlessly through those dips and turns. Full throttle ride engagement. Loved that ride. Speaking of which.. where are are the ride Analysis you mentioned for their wooden coaters? Still working on them? If so, I'm looking forward to them. The Voyage is an admirable creation to say the least. Can't wait to try them with the new Timberliner Trains. Take care!
